![]() I wanted to share my experience with you all. But I still want to disable the RFID chip. I need the chip portion to keep working, as many places require it, and it is better security than the mag strip. This disables the RFID chip, but also disables the chip card as well. I took a small push pin and poked the rear of the chip card ever so slightly so that it doesn't go through the other side. ![]() Popping holes in the card decreases the time it takes to scan, and I have to have my NFC reader right on chip card to be able to read it, but it still reads it. ![]() Using a massive hole punch, I've gone and punched out many locations on multiple cards and it still works. I shined a light through it, but the debit card uses a much thicker and darker plastic, and i can't see the wires as well. The RFID chip is embedded with the chip card on these. Using the Android app called Credit Card Reader, and NFC on my phone in airplane mode, and clearing the storage and cache before turning it back on, I was able to verify that this worked for the credit card. I shined a bright flashlight through the card, saw the wire to the top right of the chip, and drilled a very small hole (1mm) through the wire. This is something I want to disable, even though the likelihood of my card being read this way is extremely low.
